Fake Boys at the Choich

Post  The Amoral One on Sun Dec 05, 2010 1:44 pm

Oceans - Modern Life Is Boring And Poorly Executed. Saw a bass player, heard no bass. Yikes.

The Fake Boys - Pretty solid, straight forward pop-punk. Not a lot of octave chord noodling, drummer pounded forward with the single-minded zeal of an other-dimensional Ramone from Boston, and the bass player was power-stancing his rhythm stick hard. My toe was tapping, so Pop-Punk Mission Accomplished.

Exseteras - Played awesome, dig a lot of their guitar work. I wish they'd cover some later period Turning Point already.

Went to the show at Cranky's afterward, it was both fun and funny. Solid hangouts.

Oceans - It was sloppy but wasn't that bad, vocals were WAY too loud, could barely hear the guitar or bass. Sounded like You & I or Hot Cross riffs more than it did MLIW. screamo influenced hardcore, knucklhead's pissed.
Fake Boys - Played an awesome set, too bad the guitarists cab blew, that thing looked megaloud. 90's style pop punk a la Jawbreaker or Pegboy, super catchy, nice dudes, bassist had a pick yr king shirt on, rules.
didn't catch exseteras

+'s 3 Fake boys CDs for $10, extremely drunken chris zardis, weather was winter as fuck
-"s whoever farted right before that fake boys set, and while sitting in my car at different times noticed the police roll by this place constantly, and always slow down to stop and take a look.

man i aint mad....

ill pick "pop" punk(pre 90's) over "screamo influenced" anything, anyday, though. Hardcore is just metal, played badly, now, regardless of what other nomenclature people are giving it these days, screamo, emo, etc etc etc.

no cares though.

yeah ok dude.

Hardcore WAS punk, "played fastly", until 1985(which was what, 10 years before you were born?), then it became shitty metal. My only mistake was not being specific enough.

Call it whatever ya want man, i dont give a shit. Not gonna argue with ya.

... and dude, knucks, bro... there are dozens upon dozens of bands that play fast punk post 1985 that could be considered Hardcore. Yes a new branch stemmed out that was more metal-driven but to use that for an excuse to ignore the other bands still playing fast punk/HC is tarded'....

what am i ignoring? you know what i listen to in my free time? i havent pointed a finger at anything specifically on here as being this or that, and yet everyone gets defensive. Theres lots of current bands that i like. I dont need any excuses or whatever, and i dont ignore soemthing simply because its current or "new".

And i NEVER say i dont like something without listening to it first.
